You'll feel comfortable with me as a communications partner because I listen closely and I'm collaborative. I'm zealous about giving you the product you want.
Even as a kid I was intrigued by the ways grown-ups told stories or expressed opinions. As a communications professional, I've been observing workplace writing for more than 30 years and cataloging how employees miss opportunities to forge strong connections with their readers. A lifetime of observation benefits my clients.
Clients often economize by developing a rough draft and depending on me as an editor and proofreader. I enjoy going far beyond eliminating errors and making sure the copy is clear, concise, and compelling.
My interest in customized style guides grows out of my commitment to correct and consistent expression. A style guide does not have to be long to go a long way toward ensuring that inconsistencies and common errors begin to disappear. See a sample style guide (PDF).
Coaching—in person or via phone and email—enables clients to get immediate diagnoses of writing weaknesses and tips on techniques. Generally, clients do not need many sessions to gain valuable insights and the comfort level to continue making progress on their own.
Mission and vision statements can be dreary, but Norm created something for us that was so spot-on and inspiring that I did more than put it in writing.
